Commission on Conciliation
The Office of the Permanent Diaconate is formulating a plan for creating a commission that will handle disputes or misunderstandings that occur at the parish level. Implementing Gospel values, the Commission on Conciliation has as its goal the healing of broken relationships and restoring harmony in the ministerial/pastoral environment. Dialogue is the means for addressing issues that have negatively impacted individuals or the community.
Another goal of the commission is to foster greater education in the area of human relationships and the reality of conflicts, not as something to be avoided, but as an opportunity to be embraced and to allow growth and life to flourish. The hope is that one person from each parish is trained in the understanding of relationships and conflict. To accomplish this goal, the Tepeyac Institute, in collaboration with the Office of Conciliation from the Archdiocese of Chicago, will offer a 45-hour program on human identity and relationships over a period of 12 months (June, October, February, June). Upon completion of the program the participant will receive a Certificate on Conflict Transformation.
